Account and Data Deletion
Last updated: 5 October 2026
You may request closure of your SASA user account and deletion of associated personal data. Requests are reviewed to verify identity, protect other users, and determine which records must legally or contractually be retained.
How to submit a request
- Email [email protected] with the subject SASA account deletion request.
- Send the request from the email address associated with your account where possible.
- Include your full name, SASA username or account email, organisation name, and the phone number associated with the account. Do not include your password.
- If you cannot use the registered email, contact your organisation's SASA administrator and ask them to confirm the request.
What happens next
- We or the organisation controlling the account may contact you using an existing verified channel to confirm your identity and authority.
- Once verified, access will be disabled and active sessions may be revoked.
- Account profile information and other personal data that is no longer needed will be deleted or de-identified.
- We will confirm completion or explain any information that must be retained and the reason for retaining it.
Information that may be retained
Deleting a login does not automatically erase business transactions belonging to the organisation. Invoices, payments, sales, purchases, debt records, payroll records, audit logs, fraud-prevention records, legal claims, and backup copies may be retained where required by Ugandan law, an applicable contract, security needs, or another lawful purpose. Access to retained information will be limited, and it will be deleted or de-identified when the applicable retention reason expires.
WhatsApp and third-party information
You may identify WhatsApp or SMS communication data in your request. We will delete or de-identify information under our control when permitted. Information independently held by Meta, a mobile network, your employer, or another service provider is governed by that party's deletion process and privacy terms.
Processing time and complaints
We will acknowledge and process verified requests within the period required by applicable law. Complex requests, disputed ownership, legal retention duties, or difficulty verifying identity may require additional time. If you believe a request has not been handled lawfully, you may contact Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office.
